Join us on March 14th for a special evening honoring the life and music of visionary composer and musician Arthur Russell. From country to disco, avant- guard, Indian classical music and every imaginable sound that can resonate from a cello, an evening of Arthur Russell’s music offers everything for everyone. 

This unique evening is a collaboration between mutual aid centered Human Behavior Presents, Avalon Lounge and Community Theater in Catskill.

The night begins with a screening of Wild Combination, an intimate and moving documentary about Russell directed by Matt Wolf. The film traces Russell’s expansive creative life — from avant-garde composition and disco experiments to tender folk songs — illuminating an artist whose work continues to inspire generations.

Following the screening, local musicians will perform their favorite Arthur Russell songs at Avalon Lounge in tribute, reinterpreting his deeply personal catalog in community. Expect an evening of warmth, experimentation, vulnerability, and connection — all in the spirit of Russell’s boundary-crossing sound.

This is a mutual aid benefit: 80% of all ticket sales will be donated to Columbia County Sanctuary Movement, supporting our community members who have been kidnapped by ICE.
