In 1996, a class of high school English students in Middletown, New York investigate the mysterious waste appearing in the town dump — and the town’s tap water. Their resulting documentary was more hard-hitting than local officials were prepared for. Thirty years later, documentarians Jesse Moss and Amanda McBain (Girls State, Boys State) caught up with English teacher Fred Isseks and his band of teenage journalists to tell their tale of local environmental justice and passionate community journalism.
