After climbing the ranks of the Korean papermaking business, Man-su (Squid Game and K-Pop Demon Hunters’ Lee Byung-hun) is suddenly fired. There are few job openings for his niche position, and his former life of middle-class luxury is starting to dissipate, so Man-su does what he thinks is reasonable: kill the competition. A remake of Costa-Gavras’s The Ax (2005), itself adapted from a Donald E. Westlake novel of the same name, this is legendary Korean director Park Chan-wook’s (Oldboy, The Handmaiden, Decision to Leave) brutal and very funny satire of our world’s failing economic systems.
